DJ Dean, owner and founder of DJ Dean SA, was privileged enough to share in the civil union of Mickey and Yolande on a very cold winters day.
Having done more than 100 weddings at Boesmanland Farm Kitchen over the past 8 years and being their preferred supplier for sound and lighting, this was only the second time that we were confronted with rain on the beautiful West Coast at a wedding.
We often get booked at Boesmanland to do the ceremony on the beach ( view gallery ) or on the grass because we provide professional outdoor sound, which is even crystal clear in windy conditions. DJ Dean prefer the ceremonies on the grass, as they are more practical setup wise, and easier on the feet for the older folks and you still enjoy the breath taking views of the ocean right next to you.
To add some piece of mind for future brides at Boesmanland, the venue is well equipped in the case of rain. The ceremony was first moved from the beach to the grass, and when it started pouring it was moved to the sheltered lapa. The staff was quick to act and move things along accordingly; on the ball and friendly as always. The fact that the speakers are waterproof also helped a great deal, as no movement of the sound was required.
The speeches were sweet and short as always at this informal venue. The food was out of this world; eat as much as you like, with a variety such as boerekos, seafood, barbeque, fresh breads and jams, stews and many more to choose from. You will have to visit this venue yourself to explore what they have to offer. They are available for bookings during the week and one of the iconic landmarks of the Langebaan Beach, situated right next to Club Mykonos.
I was fortunate enough to have my beautiful fiancé Chinelle Birk accompanying me to the wedding, always supporting me in my passion for music. Weddings are long hours, we often arrive 90 minutes before the ceremony for setup and reach home well after midnight. She always helps me and smiles and that makes my job so much more worthwhile.
The dance floor was busy as always with long commercial sets, good 80’s music and also some nice Afrikaans langarm, just as the couple requested. The party stopped at 24h00 with many people still on the dance floor and the guests started moving to Flamingo’s Dance Club for the after party.
We stayed over for the night at Pampoenhuisie. Hanli is our go to option for affordable accommodation in Langebaan. She is situated near the West Coast National Park’s Langebaan entrance, her place is always clean and neat and the water warm. She also runs an art gallery during the week and offers breakfast also as an additional option. We will definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a decent place to stay for not too much money. Call her directly at 082 853 8187.
